World Book Day Resources

Thursday 2nd March sees the return of World Book Day once again, a day to celebrate magical stories, our favourite character, and the wonderful worlds we like to disappear into within the pages of a good book. With schools up and down the country celebrating today by dressing up, reading together and learning new texts, we’ve put together a list of resources for you to use in the classroom today and beyond to keep the magic of reading alive.

For those beloved texts that we teach year after year, it can sometimes be a challenge to keep them exciting and inspiring for students. Check out our free resource about Handa’s Surprise by Eileen Browne for ideas on how to inject fresh approaches to those popular texts we all know and love.

At Artis, we LOVE onomatopoeia, and who else is the King of all things swashboggling and wondercrump but Roald Dahl? We share some fun Dahl-based activities to explore language and literature and bring a little gobblefunk to your classroom.

Books are full of great stories and characters, but for some students it can be difficult to bring those stories to life. In this downloadable resource, we explore how to bring your children’s favourites to life through drama and help them see the story from a brand new perspective.

And finally, we explore how you can use the arts to teach literacy. From acting out stories, singing through recipes, rapping poems and creating character statue galleries, there are loads of ways to help your children glean the meaning of all kinds of writing.
