Number duets: dancing times tables

Using different parts of the body children dance numbers 1 to 9. They then work in pairs on times tables, each dancing a different number and multiplying the two to reach an answer together. This activity is great for number internalization as children actively explore shape and movement possibilities. It introduces compositional devices and develops clarity in movement, relationship between self and partner and spatial awareness.

Artis Specialist Iryna Pyzniuk (Snap) demonstrates ‘Number Duets’ working with children from St Anne’s Catholic Primary School in Lambeth, London.
