This ‘wall paper’ is made from photographs of thousands of teenagers’ faces taken from the artist’s high school yearbooks. From a distance you cannot see that they are faces. Close up, you can see that each one is unique.

This piece looks, from a distance, like a powerful tornado. When you observe more closely you can see that it is made of thousands of tiny figures swirling round and down towards a single figure at the bottom. Do Ho was thinking about the influence of generations of family members that makes an individual the person they are.

This piece is a copy of a gateway from Do Ho’s childhood home in South Korea. He has made it out of translucent fabric with a metal frame (like a tent). In fact he has made two gateways that look like reflections of one another. Do Ho is interested in transitional spaces (such as doorways, bridges, corridors and staircases), that link one space to another.

Kwame Kwei-Armah, Artis PatronBecause of the arts, the learning experiences at Pakeman are much richer and the children are much happier.
Emma Bonnin, Head, Pakeman PrimaryI don’t think you can really invest in anything better than the arts because that’s about how we see each other and ourselves.
Nitin Sawhney, Artis PatronIt has been great to see many of our children grow in confidence over the year.
Emily Baggot, Teacher, Wheelers Lane PrimaryArtis helps us to deliver our curriculum in a way that allows the children to be really engaged. And it is absolutely fantastic to watch them do that.
Ciara Parris, Head, Links PrimaryIt has been so rewarding for our children to work with Artis. If you are reading this wondering whether you should make the decision to bring them into your school, do it. Our children love working with Beebop, it is great for their mental wellbeing and enriches our curriculum. Our staff love it too!
