Creative Approaches in the Classroom through Movement
Overview
This workshop is designed to provide some ideas of how to utilise dance and movement to explore curriculum topics with KS1 and KS2 children.
The workshop is split into two halves: working with KS1 children and working with KS2 children. Teachers do not need to have any previous dance experience to lead dance activities with children – children themselves are great creators! For each Key Stage we will use a different stimulus as the starting point to demonstrate some of the ways into movement.
Objectives
- To learn several easy warm-up and cool down activities that will help children get connected to the body.
- To demonstrate how to lead movement by providing children with a structure to work within and giving them a stimulus to work from.
- To model several movement activities that can be adapted to topic work.
